Internally Displaced Veterans Received Free Medical Testing Thanks to the MRA Initiative
The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees, provides free medical services to the IDP veterans, within the framework of Memorandums of Understanding, signed with the medical clinics.
Today at the City Poti Medical Center, doctors from different clinics, such as GORMEDI, Chkhobadze Medical Clinic and Dimitri Nazarashvili Regional Training Center for Family Medicine provided about 30 veterans with the free ambulatory tests.
These tests showed that up to 12 patients required hospitalization. They were transferred to the clinics with corresponding profiles. Elgudja Djgharkava, the Abkhazian Wat veteran was diagnosed with chronic heart failure in acute phase. The patient was transferred to the GORMEDI clinic, where he will undergo coronary angiography as soon as possible. Another war veteran, Rezo Shengelia, will receive Cranial Plastic Surgery at the GORMEDI clinic.
Memorandum envisages full reimbursement of operational, stationary and rehabilitation treatment fees.
The process of veterans’ provision with free medical care was supervised by the Deputy Minister, Mamuka Tsotniashvili and the Poti Mayor, Irakli Kakulia. National Agency of Veterans’ Issues is also actively involved in the process.
The similar project had already been implemented in Zugdidi, where 30 veterans were provided with the free medical care. Cooperation between the ministry and medical center will continue actively in the future.
